During May 2007, the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth across the United States celebrated a new chapter in the life of the congregation as the five U.S. provinces joined together canonically as a single U.S. province – the new Holy Family Province.
More than four years of diligent collaboration, continuous prayer, some tears and much rejoicing culminated on May 1, 2007, with the announcement from Rome that introduced our new Holy Family Province. May 26, 2007 was a day of celebration across the province when our new leadership team was installed at the Des Plaines Provinialate during a Eucharistic Liturgy celebrated by Chicago’s Francis Cardinal George. Simultaneous prayer services were held at our convents across the country. |

Our goal is to strengthen our mission to families in its many expressions across the United States. With some 400 sisters in the U.S., the new structure enables us to better allocate resources to support sisters in ministry and in retirement. We continue to serve in hospitals, classrooms, parishes and social service agencies in communities along the East Coast, across Pennsylvania, the Midwest, Texas and Puerto Rico.
